How to split a PDF

  1. Press “Select PDF file” and choose the PDF. The total page count appears next to the file name.
  2. Type the page ranges. Example: 1-3, 5, 8-10 gives three files: pages 1 to 3, page 5 and pages 8 to 10.
  3. Use “Split into single pages” to separate every page, or tick “Put the ranges into one file” to collect the chosen pages in one PDF.
  4. Press “Split PDF”. The result downloads, as a ZIP when there are several files.

How to write page ranges

Each comma-separated part becomes one output file. A single number such as 4 means that page only, and 2-6 means pages 2 through 6. A tilde (2~6) is read the same way. If a number is larger than the page count, or a range runs backwards (6-2), nothing is saved and you are asked to check the range.

Output files are named after the original with the range added. Extracting 1-3 from report.pdf gives report-1-3.pdf.

When it helps

Use it to send one chapter from a 100-page handout, to submit only the signed page of a scan, or to cut a document in two when it is too large for an email attachment. If your goal is to drop a few pages, Delete PDF pages is quicker.

Page content is not compressed again, so text and images stay as sharp as the original. Everything happens on your device, so internal documents and personal papers can be split without uploading them.

Range examples

To take off the cover, type 1. To keep everything but the cover of a 10-page file, type 2-10. To cut the file in half, type 1-5, 6-10. To collect the odd pages in one file, type 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and tick the one-file option. A page may appear in more than one range: 1-3, 3-5 puts page 3 in both files.
